    GENERAL

Gameover / No surname / No nicknames

    HawkClan / no rank

No actual gender - gives the impression of a male

    Uses he/him pronouns anyway

    Does not age

    Thoughts, actions, ["speech"]

    PHYSICAL

    [art thread]

Has the appearance of a cat

No voice, but makes the sound of text in old RPG games

Gameover is from a video game. Literally. Although he is three-dimensional, he is made of pixels from head to toe. He is dark blue, almost black in color, while the tip of his tail and his paws fade into a lighter blue. His entire body is speckled in white dots, giving the impression of a night sky. His eyes are a stark bright orange. His eyes, as well as the 'stars' in his pelt glow at night.

He wears a belt with a pouch on his back, which is how he accesses his menu and inventory.

Anything he touches will be pixelated (including footsteps), but it will return to normal almost immediately upon removal of contact. Living animals do not become pixelated.

    ABOUT GAMEOVER

Gameover has no idea how he came to be in this world. It's all completely new and strange to him.

In the game he is originally from, Gameover was simply a pet to the Hero, acting as an extra, automated weapon.

His attacks consist of fireballs and lightning zaps. Yes, they are pixels as well.

His personality was designed to be curious (talking about the Hero's surroundings when spoken to) and loyal (defensive and often sacrificing himself for the Hero) - but he is a learning AI, and can adapt and change depending on his interactions.

Upon coming into the real world, his settings are currently at default, including his stats and 'personality'.

He does not have a voice, but he can speak. When he does so, a speech bubble will appear above his head, followed by sound blips commonly heard in RPG games when a character speaks.

Emotions are often expressed as emotes that appear above Gameover's head.

When Gameover's HP reaches 0, he will shrink out of existence with the old school death sound playing. The words "GAME OVER" will hover in the air, and a button labeled with "CONTINUE?" will float below it. Unless someone presses this button, Gameover will be stuck in limbo for eternity.

Damage taken will be displayed by red numbers in the air, such as '-10' or '-5.' Healing will be represented in the same way, but with green numbers such as '+10' and '+5.'

    INTERACTION

    Weak physically||Medium-high magically||Weak mentally

Can attack with fireballs and lighting zaps

    Reactions will vary

    Nonviolent powerplay allowed

//aaahhh sorry it's so long tl;dr - backstory on what gameover's life was like, but then something out of the norm happens and a strange portal appears and when he passes through it he falls from the sky in the real world and now he's just trying to figure out what the fuck is going on - then he hears footsteps (first come first served) and he freaks out and spits a fireball at them

Ever heard of Dark Corridors? The old Gameboy game? Of course you haven't. This roleplayer just made it up for backstory purposes. But, perhaps, for the same exact reason - backstory - it could exist? No? That's a shame, because it's happening anyway.

Over and over again, he sacrificed himself for that person. They didn't have a name. Master? That was the script. Hero? That was the player's official title. For the sake of storytelling, let's just call them Hero. Hero constantly changed, day in day out. They would have so many potions, so many levels, so much strength- he tried his best to protect them. He really did. He couldn't count the times he's died for them on all of his toes. But sometimes, it was in vain. They died. He had to watch as they crumbled away, the enemy gloating over their victory as they brought Hero down with that final swipe. And just like that, every time, things got dark. Really dark. Not figuratively, but literally. Then he's put all the way back at the beginning, but why? What happened to Hero? Where was their things? Their weapons? Their armor? It was his job to protect Hero, until they escaped that hellish place.

    But they never did.

He never did find out what was beyond that final door.

And just like that, as Hero crumpled to a pile of pixels, everything went dark. With a shake of his head, he stood still, waiting for the moment he would be teleported all the way back, just like last time. And the time before that. And the time before that. Again and again. So many times. He stood straight, waiting, but nothing happened. A question mark appeared, spinning in a circle above his head briefly before popping. Was something wrong? Was Hero still alive, somehow?

He hurried to their- um, pile, staring down with his glowing orange eyes. Nothing. The shattered health bar was still empty. He was gone.

A purple glow abruptly and violently filled the room, and an exclamation point appeared above him before vanishing. Adjusting to the brightness, he found himself staring into a portal. No way. The next level? But Hero was...

Were they on the other side? Was this a new spell? Maybe they were waiting for him! With a bounding leap, he passed effortlessly through the portal.

The following events were a blur. What was going on? There was the sensation of falling, and for a moment he stared upward, and staring right back down was a vast expanse of black, speckled with a glittering white. Oh, golly, it was beautiful. A sight he'd never seen before.

Then he struck object after object, and his jaws gaped in a silent exclamation of pain as red numbers surrounded him.

    500/500

    434/500

    379/500

    300/500

    246/500

    190/500

    100/500

And then he hit the ground, a large -50 hovering in the air before vanishing. Ow.

He struggled to his feet, his health bar wavering slightly as the bar stopped on a precariously low level, deep in red. Limping forward, he looked up fearfully. The pretty sight he had seen just moments earlier was gone, eaten by looming trees. But these trees were off. What was it? They had green on them. Why was that strange? They certainly looked strange. He looked down, peering at his blocky, pixelated, and blue paw before he looked back up at the trees. How odd. The ground beneath his feet had become blocky as well, but when he took turns lifting each paw, the blocks disintegrated, becoming the oddly-shaped stalks of green. This certainly wasn't anything he'd ever seen before. He placed his paw on one of the trees, and almost immediately, the surface around it transformed into the same blocks he was made of. Pulling away, it immediately returned to normal. He couldn't explain it at all.

Taking tentative steps forward, he stared at his dark surroundings with wide eyes. The white speckles on his pelt cast a soft glow on the area around him, but it didn't help as much as he wanted it to. Everything was strange, and it was frightening. It was cold, too. A shiver passed through him. Was he going to be attacked by monsters?

A rectangular bubble appeared above his head as his jaws opened. A single word appeared within it. ["Hello?"]

There was the sound of footsteps, and an exclamation point betrayed his surprise as he whipped around, spitting a pixelated fireball at the source of the noise.

He was afraid, to tell it shortly. The fireball fizzled out, but the stranger was untouched. In his panic, he'd missed. There was a small tremor in his legs, and though his jaws parted, nothing happened. Crouching down, he maintained a defensive stance. A shield shape appeared above his head, the 'metal' glinting before the image popped out of existence. He didn't know who this stranger was. They could be waiting for a weak spot in his defense. He couldn't let down his guard- his HP was dangerously low as it was. One, maybe two hits and he was done for.

The same box appeared above his head, a small, repeated clicking sound accompanying the letters as they stretched across. ["Who are you? What have you done with the Master? T-tell me!"] He looked around wildly, orange gaze darting. ["Where are your goons? I-if you hurt the Master..."] The threat was left empty. His eyes met the stranger's again, an uncertain frown planted upon his pixelated maw.

ATTACK IN BOLD #6f90ea - TAGS

//his AI is based on relationships - you can either build a positive one or a negative one and the more positive points you have, the more likely he is to interact with your character/be friendly with him, like normal friendship - if it's neutral he'll either be a little defensive or ignore you and if the bar is red/negative he'll probably attack on sight depending on how bad it is

    so if he ignores someone it's part of his character i'm sorry ;v;

He seemed to get even more tense as the rodent came upon the scene, the pixels that made up their pelt rippling with uncertainty. His dialogue was strange. It was audible. His eyes flickered towards the ground as a panel appeared in the air, and he studied his stats, looking up at the two every so often. His Mana was fine, and perhaps he could run if the need arose. He just needed to worry about his HP. He'd used his last healing potion on the Master.

He seemed to freeze as the strange creature kept speaking. He was being welcomed, to a place called BlizzardClan. The menu at his paws vanished, and he straightened up. What resembled a grin crossed his maw, and a bright green smiley face popped above his head. Warily skirting around the other feline, he halted a few feet away from the beaver.

Yet again, the text box appeared above his head, his jaw moving as the text clicked its way into existence. ["Well, golly, I do apologize for being so defensive! I've lost the Master, you see, and that's no good! Where is this BlizzardClan? Is it a town? Are there shops? I do hope the Master is waiting for me there!"] A bar appeared above the beaver's head, a pixelated picture of himself to the left of it. A green color filled a small bit of the bar, followed by a white '+10' in the air. The bar disappeared.

["Can you lead me to this place, please? How many monsters are on the path there?"]

Instead of the friendly stranger, the feline spoke instead. With a blink of vibrant orange eyes, he turned back to the other feline, a question mark appearing above his tilted head before popping. Oh, that's right. He had attacked him. So he wasn't an enemy? The nice one didn't seem afraid. Maybe they were just residents that lived in the area? Merchants, perhaps? His tail swayed to and fro steadily. ["Sorry, mister! You startled me, that was all! I didn't hurt you, did I?"] Above Mike's head, that same bar appeared, a smidgen of green inside of it as '+2' hovered in the air. And just like the previous time, it vanished.

["Alike?"] What did he mean by that? So BlizzardClan wasn't a town? No shops, no merchants? He needed potions. That was a shame. And no... Master? He could help but have an inkling of a feeling that something was wrong. Their HP had hit zero... but nothing had been reset. Just what was going on? He sagged, an odd-sounding sigh resonating from his form. For a moment he stood still, but he then straightened up. ["What are your names?"]

A third stranger made their way onto the scene, and he found himself following... Pierce's pointing as he introduced the others. Pierce, Doug, and Mike. For a few moments, he was completely still. A small, thin bar appeared above his head, a green bar sliding across until it was full. It disappeared. With the information downloaded, he resumed giving them his attention. Golly, these were some nice residents! The pixel creature nodded vigorously, but it seemed to be for no apparent reason. ["Thanks, Pierce!"]

Without warning, a panel appeared in front of the three of them. Two boxes- the lower one had a keyboard and a space to type. Above it was a pale brown box, within it the text, what will you name your new companion? Continuing as if the panel wasn't there, he sat down, a happy emote appearing above his head. The grass beneath him shifted, some becoming pixels and some becoming normal grass. ["My name? Jee, I dunno! The Master calls me all kinds of things. They're all great names, though!"] Which was a lie. Crude players often gave dumb nicknames to the poor feline, but it was in his AI to think of them as wonderful names.

Continuing on, a question mark appeared above him. ["So, you don't have any merchants back at BlizzardClan? That's a shame! Do you have any healing items, though? I don't have much, but I might be able to barter or buy them!"] He twisted around, fumbling at the pack on his hip. Opening one of the many pouches, a panel grew in front of him. Flipping through various menus, he frowned. Closing it, he turned back to the group. ["I might be a little shorthanded right now, it seems!"]

    // SWEETOPHELIA.

The newly-named feline strode through the odd but pretty town, head swiveling left and right to take in the sights. He'd been going from hut to hut, knocking on doors and asking around. They'd told him this wasn't a merchant town, but that didn't mean there weren't any shops at all, right? Everyone knew that a town had to have at least one potion shop, one weapons shop, and one armor shop! He hadn't seen the Master at all, either.

The people he had met first had given him the name of Gameover, and like always, he had thought of it as a fantastic name. The pixelated being huffed a soundless sigh, head dipping low as orange eyes scanned the clearing. Counting the houses he'd been to, a bright yellow exclamation point appeared above his head, and it disappeared as he hurried over. Oh, please, a potion shop! He needed some real bad! The fall from the previous night had left him with low HP.

Stepping up to the door, he rapped on it three times. Each contact brought a peculiar change upon the wood, causing it to change into pixels, but immediately returning to normal when he pulled away. Gameover sat down, something like a smile on his face as he waited for someone to answer the door. A small bubble appeared above his head, a single word piecing together inside of it. ["Hello?"]

What was this? With a blink of glowing orange eyes, the pixelated cat strolled over, taking in the scene before him. Meeting? HawkClan? Ambassadorship program? He'd never heard of such things. Curious and eager to learn more, a happy emote betrayed his excitement before popping as he took a seat at the back.

ATTACK IN BOLD #6f90ea - TAGS

//oof is he even allowed to do that i don't know

The outlandish feline had been getting into all kinds of things during his short amount of time in BlizzardClan. He was learning new things every day and meeting new people, although the things built into his coding did slow the process. He was still dead set on finding the Master, as well as potions for his low health. Having such dangerously low HP for a long period of time was risky!

Gameover had managed to find his way inside of the Medics' hut, and he wandered around, a bright yellow exclamation point hovering above his head as he explored, a grin working its way onto his pixelated maw. There were lots of strange things he'd never seen before. In the world he was familiar with, the only method of healing was potions- or dying and starting over. Which he didn't like.

Staring at the storage with medicine, he peered inside, picking up a dock leaf, watching it turn from organic to pixels in his grasp. Sticking it in his mouth, the leaf disintegrated, and a bright green +2 popped up before disappearing. This stuff could heal! But they weren't potions. How strange. If this was a potions shop, maybe this is what went into the potions?

Gameover ducked out of the store, searching for the owner of the shop. As the sight of Jacob caught his attention, the blue cat hurried forward, a happy emote betraying his excitement as he sat himself down nearby. A bubble appeared above his head, a clicking sound coming from seemingly nowhere as text filled it. ["Hello! Are you the owner of this potion shop? Do you have health potions for sale?"]

He felt a prick of excitement as the door was opened, a happy emote appearing above his head. It was short lived as a speech-bubble-shaped box replaced it, a clicking sound coming from seemingly nowhere as text began to fill it. [“Hello! I’ve been searching all day, and haven’t had much luck so far! Do you run a potion shop? I can pay or barter!”] As if to prove it, Gameover twisted around, patting the pouch on his back that connected to his belt.

Almost immediately a panel grew in front of him, and the cat began to shift through the menu, opening his inventory before flipping the panel around and pushing it towards the lioness. A list of items filled the box, each one with an odd name. Peering around the panel, he tapped on the upper right hand corner. A simple white number was there: 386. [“I have money too, see?”]

    //OOC

For those who had met him, they could say this ball of... pixels was a strange one. He came from a strange place and did and said strange things. Adaptation was all baby steps. Coding was a hard thing to get around, you know. He could learn, yes, but certain things were built into his being that made him think a certain way or act a certain way. He was starting to understand that maybe the Master was gone. He’d protected them for decades, and then they were gone, just like that.

Gameover sat by the shore, staring out into the real-world water. As the waves lapped around his paws they changed, the bright blue pixels washing in before pulling away, melting into the same weird substance in front of him. It was water, but why was there so much of it? Water was rare. Where did it come from? It looked off, too. Everything in this place was off. His life had been spent living in darkness, his eyes and the spots on his flanks meant to light the way for the Hero of his game. Fighting monsters in the dark, stony corridors- that was all he knew. There was the occasional shop in a safe area, lit by torches, but that was it. Boss rooms were normally lit by magma or fire. He had never seen the outside world before. He’d never seen trees or grass or the sky or clouds or stars. Stone, darkness, fire, and pain. Keep the Master alive, even at the cost of your own life. It was built into his code.

The cat trembled, shrinking into a ball as he stared out over the lake. It was all unfamiliar. It was frightening. He pushed his snout into the ground beneath him, immediately recoiling in surprise as he crossed his eyes, staring at his nose. It had a bright brown splotch on it, and it was cold. Shaking it off, he watched the pixels melt back into the weird pixel-less stuff around him.

Gameover looked down. The brown stuff was still beneath his paws, and he sat still as the water washed in again, dampening the substance and making it colder. Reaching out with a paw, he pressed it into the ground, watching it transform into pixels as it made a squelching sound. The stuff stuck to his paw as he pulled it back, and there was an imprint left by his paw in the ground. Staring at his foot, he shook it off.

    Just what was this?

For a long moment, he sat completely still as he stared at the paw print in the ground. A dorky grin broke out on his face, a happy emote popping up as he suddenly leaped up, pouncing on the soft stuff. Almost immediately he was covered in it, but that wasn’t enough. Gameover began to roll in it, coating his entire body until he was brown. A speech bubble filled with his giggles as he continued to play in it, sending it flying everywhere. He didn’t know what it was called, but he loved it.

Gameover tilted his head as well, mirroring the husky’s movement as he began to speak. A blocky ear flicked, which changed to perking in elevated excitement. It was! It was a healing shop! His mouth opened, but before the bubble formed, the cat seemed to sag. So... it wasn’t a potion shop? The healing items weren’t for sale... maybe this was another home, and this was just the things they’ve collected from enemy drops?

As Jacob continued trying to sort out the stranger’s odd question, his tail began to wag from side to side at the mention of health. He was confused, yeah, but this was a different area, after all! He’s heard of potions being called different things but having the same effects.

Gameover lowered his head again, a sad emote popping up before being replaced by a speech bubble. [“Oh- I’ve been named Gameover. Hello, Jacob!” You’re sure you won’t at least-“] The bubble became full, and all of the text scrolled up and disappeared, creating room for more. [“-accept barter? I-I have some valuable stuff... I really need some of those healing items.”] As the bubble became full again, Gameover twisted around, patting his satchel as he opened his menu, switching to his inventory. [”Here, take a look! Let me know if anything interests you.”] He pushed the floating panel with his paw, bringing it around and nudging it towards Jacob. The menu was brown, with various buttons on the left, and a long list on the right. Each box in the list had a name on it, all of which would seem odd to others. It was in alphabetical order, the first being ‘Abbert’s Scroll,’ ‘Aslanse Pelt,’ and ‘Attoni Claw.’ [“Go on, take a look!”] he encouraged, looking nervous.

Gameover was rolling over and over on the ground, his body thoroughly caked in the strange stuff he'd discovered. As a voice called out to him and he froze, lifting his head to peer over at the kitten as she questioned him. The moisture was getting to him, and a circle spun briefly above his head as he processed the queries.

Rolling over to his paws, he stood up as he shook himself, the pixels transforming back to normal as it flew from his body. He looked at the ravaged substance below him, blinking. A speech bubble appeared above his head, a clicking sound following suit as it filled with text. ["I dunno,"] he finally responded. He poked at the earth again. ["What is this stuff? As to why I'm 'spiky'... I really dunno what you mean."] Poking at the ground, he watched it change from pixels to... smooth. ["I'm not sure why it does that. It's weird. Everything here is weird."] He glanced up at her again, offering something like a shrug.

Gameover was still new to BlizzardClan. Very new. Despite this, he'd attached himself to the residents quite quickly. Fortunately or unfortunately, it was in his code to defend those he was close to, even at the cost of his life. As Pierce called out, the pixelated cat lifted his head, blinking as his ears cocked forward to listen. As battle training and fighting was brought up, he seemed to tick, pushing himself to his feet as he strode forward, his posture straight and stiff. ["Lead the way."]

He frowned at the suggestion, head tipping to the side. With a nod, he said, ["Yeah, I'm... pretty sure. I've never seen anything like all of this. ["And what's a 'sitty'?"] A weird word for sure.

//first time fighting with this boy hella

Gameover was next to arrive, hurrying forward with his head low. Battle was his life- almost literally. He lashed his pixelated tail, his pixelated face pulling back in a pixelated snarl. As if for emphasis, an angry emote appeared above his head before popping. He hadn’t yet met the tuxedo cat or the... hollow-eyed creature that he had come to this place with. But he had met Pierce. Even if they were just acquaintances, the relationship was positive. In his mind, they were friends. His coding told him to fight for his friends, right along side them. At any cost.

His Mana was still high, but his HP was not. 52/500 was dangerous. But he didn’t show it. He could definitely feel pain, but mortal wounding was a foreign concept to him. Yes, he could definitely be crippled and lose limbs- but blood? What was blood?

He was a ranged attacker, and he would keep his distance. Bright, glowing orange eyes flickered over the gathered enemies. Just by looking, he couldn’t predict their levels, skills, or fighting styles. That wasn’t good.

Gameover was snapped out of his analyzing as the reptile sent a wave of flame toward them, stumbling back with a yelp as he was struck. Large, blocky numbers appeared from nowhere, reading -32. Damn! What if he was struck down? What would he do then? He would have to attack fast and hard.

Shaking himself, the brief pain disappeared as he whipped around, eyes locking on MADS FAUST G.  With his jaws gaping wide, he spat out a large, pixelated fireball in his direction. The projectile blinked between yellow and orange. Although it was made from pixels, upon contact with real-world things, it would turn into real flame. He just had to hope this enemy wouldn’t dodge. Many enemies he’d encountered weren’t... smart, but they were powerful. He could handle powerful if he kept his distance, but fast would be a problem.

Gameover stared at the floor as Jacob refused, only a twitch of an ear indicating he was listening. His head lifted, a bright yellow question mark helping to portray his confusion. So... he didn’t have to pay for the healing items? Or trade? They would just give them?

A small white bar appeared above Jacob’s head, and nearby it, white numbers that read +20. The bar was no longer empty as a tiny portion of it filled with green. The bar vanished. Immediately, Gameover scooted a little closer, his face lit up with a smile. The question mark was replaced with a happy emote, which was in turn replaced by the speech bubble. [“So they’re free? The items? All of them? I can use them?”] His tail swayed from site to side. He pulled up his menu again, switching to the overview tab as he flipped the panel around for the husky to see. It was a box with a simple image of Gameover inside of it, various dark brown boxes pointing to parts of his body like a diagram, inside the boxes, in a darker brown, were silhouettes of things, like a paw print, signifying footwear, wings, signifying his back (which had a simplified picture of his satchel in it), pants, signifying... well, pants, a necklace, for neckwear, and a hat, for head gear.

Peering around the panel, he pointed at the upper left hand corner of the diagram, which listed his stats. He specifically pointed at the health. 52/500 [“I need a lot of them. How much can you spare?”] He paused. [“Please.”] Didn’t want to be rude.
